The materials which composes sport exhausts systems are various and they depends by what you prefer. When we talk about motorcycles, we have to do with the following materials: INOX AISI 304 - TITANIUM - CARBON.
When we talk about cars we have to do with: IRON - INOX AISI 304 - TITANIUM.
Here there are some insights:
IRON - The iron has a lower life than all the other materials and with time, it tends to oxidize. Exhausts are heavier than INOX AISI 304 versions, but their strength is the price, which is much lower than other materials. The performance output is identical to the other materials.
INOX AISI 304 - The inox has a very long life, not oxidize, it could become slightly darker with the use but with a simple polished it cames back to the original splendor. It weighs much less than iron and output performance is identical to the other materials. Strength of inox is the quality of the material.
TITANIUM - It weighs 40% less than inox and it dissipates heat much better (less heat). The price is high but especially in racetracks less weight and lower operating temperatures can make the difference.
CARBON - Famous for its dark color that gives a very racing aesthetics, it weighs about 20% less than Inox and dissipates heat better than it. It's recommended for under tail exhausts or simply for those who loves his dark color.
